The Genealogy of a Nursing School: St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing by Barbara Flewellyn

Posted 19 days ago by Kim Curry

This attractive and interesting book by Barbara Flewellyn may be about a school in West Virginia, but the author has Florida roots. In addition to being a nurse and a graduate of St. Mary's, Flewellyn is a serious student of family history research. She has traced her roots to Escambia County, Florida and Marengo County, Alabama and authored two other books about her ancestors. For those of you who have been putting off writing a memoir, career journey, or other topic of interest, Flewellyn proves that you can do it not once but repeatedly. Her "St. Mary's" book traces the history of a nursing school in rural setting from its founding to its closure in 1969. For anyone with an interest in southern nursing history, this is an inspiring book. It can be ordered by contacting the author at bflewellyn@msn.com.
