Article on nursing image depicted in nursing career novels

A new link has been added to the "Links and News" area to an article in the Online Journal of Issues in Nursing (OJIN): "Fiction Versus Reality: Nursing Image as Portrayed by Nursing Career Novels". The authors are Maureen Anthony, Jill Turner, & Megan Novell. The authors discuss images and stereotypes of nurses depicted in nursing novels such as the Cherry Ames series and how these depictions impacted the image of nurses and nursing.  It is a much needed and very engaging discussion that is both a trip back through time and a sobering reminder of how media depictions can impact our profession, sometimes positively and sometimes not.
